A devotional to trees

    The redwood survives. She does not ask herself why she survives; she only does. The redwood is giant. She does not ask herself why she is giant; she only is. The redwood grows and provides shelter under her wide canopy and never questions why:  She is the master of her purpose and her self. She does not care to fathom a god or enlightenment, because she knows she is her own god and the world around her is her enlightenment. She is the direct source of her own life and what she experiences and lives is in accordance with this law.
